Richmond, KY – The Madison County community is saddened by the untimely demise of Austin Short, who lost his life following a golf cart accident. The incident, which occurred in Richmond, resulted in life-threatening injuries for two individuals, one of whom was Austin Short.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the accident transpired around 2 a.m. on a Saturday near Dodd Rd. and Cruse Ln. The collision involved a golf cart carrying six people. Swift response from deputies was prompted by the report of the accident.
The severity of the incident led to the hospitalization of two individuals at UK Hospital for critical injuries. Unfortunately, one of these individuals, 23-year-old Austin Short, has passed away. The coroner has confirmed his identity.
The driver of the golf cart, Katlyene Sparks, aged 20, was arrested in connection with the incident. She faces charges including leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, wanton endangerment, and DUI.
