Billy Hahn Obituary, Former Maryland Assistant Basketball Coach

Billy Hahn, a former West Virginia men’s basketball assistant coach, passed away on Friday in the late afternoon.

WVU coach Bob Huggins stated in a statement, “I have known Billy since the early 1970s when I visited Maryland as a recruit, and he was my host for the weekend. Before I hired Billy at WVU in 2007, I frequently ran into Billy on the recruiting road after that.

Billy was a great communicator and a player’s coach. He got along incredibly well with the players, and they all loved being around him.

Hahn’s passing was confirmed by WVU to HD Media. According to multiple news sources, Hahn had a heart attack earlier this week in Morgantown.

Before joining WVU, Hahn served as the head coach at La Salle from 2001 to 2004 and was the director of the recruiting and camp service Hoop Group in New Jersey.
