On Saturday night, December 3, a man jumped to his death from a parking structure at Disneyland. He was the principal of an elementary school in Huntington Beach and a musician who performed and taught all over Southern California.
Westminster resident Christopher Christensen, 51, was also arrested in the past month on a misdemeanor allegation of child endangerment. On Monday, he will appear before the judge.
Anaheim police and the Orange County Sheriff’s Department say Christensen’s body was discovered on Saturday night at 9 o’clock, following a report of a man falling from the Mickey & Friends parking structure.
His death, police added, appeared to be a suicide.
Christensen, the former headmaster of Newland Elementary, posted a lengthy status update on his personal Facebook page on a Saturday.
I despise it when people pass away in this world with so many questions unanswered. So, I’m hoping this helps put things in perspective,” he concluded.
A police call was made and the note explained why.
‘I am about to be fired,’ he wrote. So, I’ve arrived… This will be my last Facebook post. Please help me spread the word that a fine man who was kind, kind, loving, and true was utterly undone in one tragic evening.
Christensen was charged on November 22 with two misdemeanor counts of child endangerment and violence, per documents from the Orange County Superior Court. Christensen has entered a not guilty plea to both counts.
The court documents indicate that the alleged offenses occurred on November 15. Following that, police arrested Christensen; he was later freed from jail on bond on November 17 after paying $10,000.
As of Sunday, no further information about the case was available. On Monday, he was scheduled for a preliminary hearing in court.
Christensen has been a school administrator for 22 years, most recently serving as principal of Courreges Elementary School in Huntington Beach’s Fountain Valley District.
He reflected on his time as a principal at the Fort Valley School District on Facebook, writing, “I have truly cherished educating and leading thousands of students and families in FVSD for the past 21+ years.” Those who knew me well are aware of the genuine concern I had for my pupils, their families, and the staff who worked with them. Please honor me for the contributions I made to the field of learning.
According to Dianna Gray, she has known Christensen for 30 years. His Huntington Beach business, Seaside Strings, provided string quartets and quintets for weddings and other special occasions. Gray performed at a number of events for which Christensen served as the hiring agent.
Gray is a violinist and an educator in the Irvine Unified School District, and Christensen was a cellist and a singer.
I really enjoyed jamming with him because he had such a great ear for music. His direction of operations was effective. His sense of humor never failed him, and he always seemed to take pleasure in his profession. From what Gray had to say about him in a Sunday interview, it was clear that he was a highly competent professional who also had a genuine interest in others.
Gray claims that Christensen has inspired thousands of young musicians. According to his online biography for Newland, before moving to Fountain Valley he taught instrumental music to middle school students in the Long Beach Unified School District.
Huge repercussions will be felt by many young children. Gray remarked, “Everyone that came in contact with him, from students to faculty to coworkers, really admired him.”

Christensen was linked to the Mouse House. Gray claimed that his dad, Jim, worked there as a composer. Don Dorsey Consulting claims that Jim Christensen, a music director, was responsible for adapting the electric-music song “Baroque Hoedown” for Disney’s iconic Main Street Electrical Parade.
Christensen’s death occurred when visitors were still streaming in and out of the amusement park, so many people may have seen his fall or its immediate aftermath. On Saturday night, guests could enjoy Disneyland until the stroke of midnight.
At Disneyland, hundreds of well-dressed visitors and parkgoers gather at the base of Main Street each year to watch the Candlelight Processional, which features a full orchestra and choir for two of its four annual performances.
According to his biography, Christopher Christensen earned his master’s degree from the University of California, Irvine, and has served as principal at Fulton Middle School (from 2006 to 2011), principal at Moiola K-8 School (from 2003 to 2006), and assistant principal at Masuda Middle School (from 2001 to 2003).
According to his bio, he has five total children: three biological and two adopted.
Gray claimed she did not know what led to Christensen’s suicide.
