Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert Involved in a ‘Scary’ Car Accident

On December 12, Hayley Erbert and Derek Hough reported being in a car accident.

Erbert captioned a new video on Instagram shared by both of their accounts on Friday, “Derek and I got into a pretty scary car accident in the mountains.” Our mishap included a precipitous slope, slippery pavement, a tree, and, worst of all, the fear that we would go careening off the mountainside.

The video shows the couple’s damaged car, their trip to the hospital, and the moment Erbert, age 28, received stitches for a cut on her forehead after the accident.

The fact that Hayley can’t recall anything is the scariest part,” Hough, 37, said in the thread’s comments section. “Afterwards, she was confused but still upbeat, insisting that we continue on to dinner even though blood was streaming down her face.”

He added, “That really scared me,” and that 20 minutes after the accident, when first responders arrived, Erbert finally “came to.”

The former cast members of Dancing with the Stars wrote that they have “so much to be grateful for” in the post.

First, that there weren’t any bystanders,” Erbert wrote. “Second, the speed with which medical help arrived. Finally, I’d like to reassure you that my partner and I are fine and that the only injuries I sustained were minor scrapes and bruises as well as some facial swelling and the need for four stitches just above my eyebrow.”

Hough was seen on a recent Friday morning, and he seemed happy and upbeat.
