I am board-certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology. Currently I am the Arthur & Rosalie Kaplan Chair in Medical Oncology and the associate director for clinical sciences in City of Hope's Comprehensive Cancer Center. I also serve on various panels for the National Cancer Institute. I've consistently received research grants from the NIH for my research work and have been awarded several invention discoveries and patents. I am also the current Chief Editor for Cancer Commons, and the co-chief editor for the Journal of Carcinogenesis.
Prior to joining City of Hope, I served as tenured professor of medicine, pathology and dermatology; director of the Thoracic Oncology Program and the Aerodigestive Tract Program Translational Research Lab in the section of hematology/oncology; vice chair for translational research in the department of medicine; and associate director for translational science at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center in Chicago.
