Joseph Mankiewicz Western Springs Car Accident, 1 Dead And 3 Injured in Western Springs Crash

Six vehicles collided on Thursday afternoon in Western Springs, and one man (Joseph Mankiewicz) was killed. Western Springs police reported Friday that 44-year-old Chicago resident Joseph P. Mankiewicz was declared deceased at the site of the incident.

Ogden Avenue between Harvey and Clausen avenues was the scene of the crime at around 4:10 p.m., police said.

There were six vehicles engaged when police arrived. Two of the three adults who were rushed to hospitals were in critical condition, while the third was stable.

According to the police report, Joseph Mankiewicz was in an Audi A7. Near the site of the accident, where he and his best pals from Nazareth Academy laid flowers for their friend “Joey.”

I had just had supper with him the night before,” Homero Villareal, a close friend, said through choking back tears. We’ve been here for less than a day.

The police stated that the incident was still under investigation and gave no further details as to what may have caused the collision.
