She is best known for executing the vault despite an ankle injury and for being carried to the platform by her then-coach, Béla Károlyi. She was the winner of the bronze medal at the 1992 Olympics as well. Besides gymnastics, Strug has also worked at the White House Office of Presidential Student Correspondence as a staff assist. She was a presidential appointee at Justice Department's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. The American gymnast, who served as a correspondent for Yahoo! in the 2004 Summer Olympics, has also worked as a school teacher. Strug has been a marathon runner as well, having participated in marathons in New York, Boston, Houston and Chicago. The multi-faceted personality has appeared in a handful of TV commercials too! She eventually joined the United States National Team and in 1992, her team won the bronze medal at the Barcelona Olympics. In a 1994 event, she suffered from a bad injury that required extensive rehabilitation. After this, she became a part of the bronze medal-winning US team at the 1995 World Championships and ranked 7th in the AA (All-Around competition).Strug then became a part of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ US team for the 1996 Olympics and won a team gold medal at the event.
