Two Victims Identified in Double Homicide, Suspect Alvin McKnight Jr. Sought

In a tragic incident, two lives were lost due to a shooting that occurred during the night. Authorities are currently on the hunt for a suspect related to this case.

The incident unfolded around 11:42 p.m. on Saturday when law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 2800 block of US Highway 271 South, near Bluebird Road, in Gilmer. Tragically, deputies discovered the lifeless bodies of two individuals, identified as Mandy Ray, aged 35, and Dermetrica Dashaunda Waters, aged 37, both residents of Gilmer, both of whom had suffered gunshot wounds.

Based on statements provided by witnesses, authorities issued a capital murder warrant for Alvin Charles McKnight, Jr., aged 41, a resident of Gilmer who is also known by the alias “Pookie.” McKnight is described as a 6′5″ tall black male, weighing approximately 280 pounds with a muscular build, braided hair, and blond highlights. It was revealed that McKnight and Waters had been living together until recently, and the incident is considered a case of domestic violence. According to the release, McKnight is known to have family and friends in the Upshur County and Gladewater area.

In Gladewater, a truck associated with the suspect was located on Tenery Street on Sunday morning, as reported by the Gladewater Police Department. Authorities believe that McKnight’s last known location is near Gay Avenue.
