Atkins is most well-known for her appearances in comedies on television. She played Tasha Yvette Henderson in the WB sitcom Smart Guy from 1997 to 1999. She later went on to star as Ashley Wayne in the NBC sitcom Marlon, Dee Dee Thorne in the UPN comedy Half & Half (2002-06), and Suzanne Kingston-Persons in the TBS comedy series Are We There Yet?
