Michael Flynn happens to be  a retired United States Army Lieutenant General who served as the Defense Intelligence Agency’s 18th Director before being forced to retire from the military.

He was also the 25th United States National Security Advisor, but his tenure was the shortest in the office’s history, lasting only 24 days. He was forced to resign after details of his communications with Russian Ambassador to the United States Sergey Kislyak surfaced, revealing that he had lied to the vice president about his communications.

According to intelligence reports, he spoke with the ambassador about President Barack Obama’s sanctions against Russia. Special counsel Robert Mueller investigated him, and he is currently awaiting sentencing for lying to the FBI.

Michael Thomas Flynn was born and raised in Middletown, Rhode Island, as one of nine siblings to real estate agent Helen Frances and small-town banker Charles Francis Flynn, both Catholics of Irish descent.

The rest of his siblings are Joseph, Barbara, John, Williams, Clare, and Mary who are not really known to the general public.
