Missing Demiah Appling Found Dead
A 14-year-old Florida girl who had been missing since mid-October and was the focus of a nationwide Missing Child Alert has been discovered dead, according to authorities.
On December 5, human remains were discovered in north Florida’s Gilchrist County. The body was identified as missing girl Demiah Appling by the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office in a news statement on Friday.
Dixie County Sheriff Darby Butler said, “Investigators decided that Demiah was the victim of a homicide, however the manner of death was not provided.
The youngster was last seen on October 16 in the vicinity of Old Town’s Suwannee Gardens, which is situated in Florida’s Big Bend region.
Because of Demiah’s unusual disappearance, the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office warned that she might be in danger.
Local law enforcement first took charge of the teen’s search, but on November 3 the FDLE reported that the case had been escalated to a statewide Missing Child Alert.
