Gleason explained that Ouncie’s diminutive stature inspired the nickname. He had a big competitive spirit as he got older. Ouncie’s cousin Ezekiel Mitchell and the entire Mitchell family have the organization’s deepest regrets.

According to the authorities, Allen had gone to Salt Lake City to stay with the woman and attend the Utah State Fair before the incident. On Sunday night, Allen, according the records kept by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, took part in the fair’s bull riding competition.

According to the police, Allen and the woman got into an argument at a downtown bar after the fair ended. When Allen went to retrieve his belongings from the woman’s apartment around 900 South and 200 West, he was ambushed and killed.

Allen was discovered by police outside of the complex, where he received medical attention before being taken to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The alleged shooter was taken into custody by the police. She was arrested and placed into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges of murder and felony discharge of a firearm. Only until they have been formally charged with a crime will the Salt Lake Tribune reveal the identities of suspects.

Homicide investigators in Salt Lake City are actively looking into the incident.

It was the tenth murder in Salt Lake City in 2018. It was the second shooting in the area of 900 South and 200 West in as many weeks.

On September 2, a Utah Transit Authority officer who was looking into a robbery on the TRAX platform near that intersection shot a guy who matched the description of the suspect after the man allegedly pointed a knife at the police. The officers were unharmed, but the man suffered life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

As of this writing, Bagley is a prison inmate. As of Monday afternoon, no charges had been filed. We don’t know if she’s represented by an attorney.

In a statement, PBR commissioner Sean Gleason confirmed that Allen and Ouncie Mitchell are one and the same person. A rider who had become a regular on the PBR Velocity Tour and at the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo had tragically passed away, he said, and the news had hit the organization hard. Based on his bio on the PBR website, he was originally from Fresno, Texas.

Gleason explained that Ounce was given his nickname because of his diminutive stature at birth. He had a big competitive spirit as he got older. The entire PBR family mourns the loss of Ouncie’s cousin, Ezekiel Mitchell, and offers our deepest sympathies to Mr. Mitchell and his family.
