Phil Urban Found Shot Dead In Mercedes, Post-U Basketball Player

Phil Urban, a Connecticut college basketball star, was shot and killed in a nature preserve in New Jersey on Saturday night after making plans to meet with a friend there, according to the prosecution.

According to authorities, a collegiate basketball player from Connecticut was tragically shot over the weekend at a nature reserve in New Jersey.

A 6-foot-6 forward from Post University in Connecticut named Phil Urban was shot on Saturday around 30 miles away in Hopewell Township, New Jersey.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office reported that Urban, 20, was discovered “slumped over” in the driver’s seat of a white Mercedes car around 7 p.m. on Saturday.

After being taken there, the Capital Health Regional Medical Center declared him dead.

An initial investigation revealed that Urban had planned to meet a friend at the preserve. Prosecutors claimed that he “was shot at some point during the incident.”

The shooting is being looked at as a possible homicide.

Authorities are requesting that anyone with knowledge come forward since there have been no arrests made.
