In a devastating incident on Friday evening, a head-on collision on Highway 40 claimed the lives of two individuals, identified as 37-year-old Poul Larsen and 21-year-old Kelsie Remington. The collision occurred near milepost 47 by Strawberry Reservoir at approximately 4:30 p.m. on November 24.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Luis Silva provided details, noting that Larsen was the driver of the Dodge pickup involved in the crash, and Remington was the passenger in the Honda Accord. Tragically, both Larsen and Remington were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 21-year-old driver of the Honda, whose identity has not been disclosed, is currently recovering in the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Larsen, traveling eastbound, lost control of his truck for unknown reasons, subsequently crossing over into the westbound lanes and colliding head-on with the Honda.

In the aftermath of the collision, Highway 40 was temporarily reduced to one lane as authorities worked diligently to clear the crash scene.
