I’ve been at a total loss for words the past few days. To say I’m devastated is an understatement. There will never be anyone like Jack Wilkins ever again.
I originally had over 2000 words as started to write this. I could go on for days about Jack and all the things he has done for me and others.
His accomplishments are vast though he was reluctant to talk about himself. He would go full force with anything he loved. He was worldly, educated yet at the heart of it a street level type person. As comfortable on a large stage as he was in a small funky night club.
He lived his life how most of us wished we could. He was a true artist who was respected throughout the world. A NYC icon. His guitar playing and musicianship were second to none.
He was one of my closet friends and was generous and caring. I spoke to him nearly everyday throughout most of my entire adult life. He believed in me more than I believed in myself. He looked out for me and always assured me I’d be alright.
I had so many amazing fun times with him. The laughter, the music and all the creativity we shared. He was a force in my life and I’m going to miss him dearly. It was a blessing that he let me be part of his life. Right up to the last week of Jack’s life he knew and felt all of the love. He wasn’t alone and knew he was loved.
