American football placekicker Evan McPherson, who was born on July 21, 1999, plays for the National Football League’s Cincinnati Bengals (NFL). The Cincinnati Bengals selected McPherson 149th overall in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. On May 17, 2021, he agreed to a four-year rookie contract with the Bengals.

Where did Evan McPherson go to high school?

McPherson played four seasons as the team’s kicker and punter at Fort Payne High School in Fort Payne, Alabama, where he began his football career. Both of his kicks at Fort Payne, a 60-yard field goal and an 84-yard punt, fell one yard short of the state high school record for Alabama. In 2017, he was named to the first team All-State.

After playing college football for Florida from 2018 to 2020, McPherson decided to bypass his final year and pursue the NFL draft instead. McPherson set a Southeastern Conference record for career field goal percentage (minimum 50 tries) while playing for Florida, making 51 of 60 field goals (85.0%) and 149 of 150 extra points. In his eight field goal attempts from at least 50 yards, he has made 5 of them. The Gators had a 29-9 record and a 2-1 record in bowl games over his three seasons with the team, including an Orange Bowl victory in 2019.
