The 15-year-old took home gold in the women’s 200m butterfly on Tuesday in Budapest, earning herself her second medal at the FINA World Aquatics Championships.
By 0.59 of a second, she finished the race in 2:05.20, shattering the Canadian and world junior marks she had established in Tuesday’s semifinal. She was given lane four in the middle of the pool because she was the quickest qualifier for the final.
The first medal of the world championships for Canada came from McIntosh on Saturday in the 400m freestyle. In the women’s 200m butterfly, Canada has won its first-ever long course world championship medal.
